This is the first concrete
notion of the Spalding Method. Everyone walks uniquely in life, in time and in golf. Here
the term refers to the physical set-up to the ball. It connotes the subtle shifting from
leg to leg as the lower body eases into balance. It is virtual in nature and is performed
concurrently with the next term. Walking as part of
this method aims to benefit the address position. It does not imply that the golfer must
walk the course to improve. The aphorisms above (especially the one on the top right) were
put there just to dig a little at the golf club operators who are arm-twisting the golf
consumer into riding. The benefits of walking the course however, can't be underestimated.
Not only does it re-qualify golf as exercise, it tends to instill deep and relaxed
breathing.
