Heart of a Goof
Wodehouse is the master of farce. In this book, as in his earlier book, "The Clicking of Cuthbert," he directs his comic genius toward the subject of golf. The Oldest Member tells his stories to reluctant listeners who, while trying to tug themselves away from his oratories, become spellbound by these tales of the human spirit. This is what pleasure reading is all about; it's reminiscent of Sunday dresses, parasols and gentlemen with handlebar mustaches brandishing walking sticks. The chapter titled, "The Awakening of Rollo Podmarsh" is of particular interest to this author. See "On The Falseness of Phonetic and Syllabic Devices," coming soon!
