Venus In A Green Climacteric

Artist's comments:

This work is more an experiment with color than with form. The breasts look rather "placed," the head rests on a nearly non-existent neck, and the overall stroke of the brush needs refining. But as the second oil from the brush of a dilettante the work seems passable.

Of note:

  • The hand of Venus is clutching some seeds.(not visible here)

  • There is an upside-down heart in the upper chest cavity.

  • The left cheek of Venus can also be viewed as the front of another face, the right side of her neck as the back of the neck of the other face. When looked at this way, the mouth, nose, and eye of Venus appear to be twisting and arising out of the body's exterior shell. This oil (as the title implies) represents Venus in a transformative experience.
