Just about the most fun I've had on a golf course was during a "two club" tournament. Here's how it works:

Each player is allowed to carry only two clubs for his round.

There are variations on the theme. Some call for any one club and a putter. Some call for any two clubs. I've even seen some one club formats. That I suppose is for the purists. For long courses I suggest a three club format.

This minimalist format is fun because it really calls on the player to create shots. It forces the "bump and run," helps the player groove in on one or two clubs, encourages walking the course, and it speeds up play.

Because of its versatility, the Spalding Niblick is ideal for this format of play. The nine iron with a longer extension can be struck about 210 yards with a high, high hook. (Because the lie angle of a nine iron head is designed for use with a shorter shaft the Niblick will have a tendency to hook). You can choke down on it for hitting a normal nine iron shot. You can split the grip on it and use it for chipping.

The club should predominantly be used as a short game training aid. It is not the intention of the author to "goofisize" the game of golf by recommending its use in favor of the standard fourteen club bag. It is enjoyable however to take in a round that is light-hearted while remaining competitive.
